Responsibilities

Supervise a Maintenance Shift

As a Maintenance Supervisor, you will be responsible for supervising a maintenance shift that supports plant operations. Your key skills will include people management, operational knowledge, training ability, and developing expectations and follow-through.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Supervise a maintenance crew to ensure efficient and effective maintenance operations.
  2. Ensure parts requisitioning is done properly to minimize downtime and optimize maintenance activities.
  3. Create work orders and PMs to prioritize maintenance tasks and ensure compliance with safety and quality standards.
  4. Assist with the installation of new equipment to ensure seamless integration and minimal disruption to operations.
  5. Troubleshoot problems with equipment to minimize downtime and optimize maintenance activities.
  6. Ensure a safe work environment for employees and that all employees are following all safety policies.
  7. Recognize and take steps to resolve operating problems to minimize their impact on operations.
  8. Cooperate with all departments to ensure a coordinated work relationship exists at all times.
  9. Keep accurate and up-to-date records of maintenance activities, including work orders and punch edits.
  10. Enforce company policies in a fair and consistent manner.
  11. Encourage suggestions from employees to improve production, quality, safety, and control costs of production.
  12. Keep manager informed on operating and/or employee problems that may require their attention or knowledge.
  13. Schedule crew overtime to ensure adequate staffing and minimize downtime.
  14. Involvement in Organizational Teams and committees to promote collaboration and knowledge sharing.
  15. Assume personal responsibility to ensure a safe and healthy workplace for everyone, adhering to all safety policies and procedures.
  16. Adhere to Quality work practices, follow all GMPs, maintain sanitary conditions, and ensure that product quality is maintained.
  17. Report to management any conditions or practices that may adversely affect food safety and quality.
  18. Actively participate and/or lead a plant safety team to promote a culture of safety and quality.
  19. Ensure regulatory compliance at all times.
Qualifications

Education and Experience Required:

An Associate degree (A.S., A.A.) or two-year technical certificate in Mechanics and Electronics is preferred, or a related field, and two years of mechanical and electrical maintenance and supervisory experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job.

Preferred Education, Experience, and Skills:

  • Communication and interpersonal relations as applied to interaction with co-workers, supervisors, vendors, etc. sufficient to exchange or convey information and to receive work direction.
  • Ability to learn computerized maintenance management system.
  • Knowledge of basic mechanics, welding, electrical, fabrication, boilers, refrigeration, preventative maintenance, plant operations, PLCs, general electrical, and government safety and environmental regulations.
  • Able to supervise department personnel in a fair and consistent manner.
  • Be able to recognize problem situations and take appropriate steps to resolve.
  • Ability to work overtime and weekends as required.
