Position Overview:
This role entails providing expert consultation and education focused on clinical excellence and patient safety, as well as ensuring compliance with accreditation, regulatory, and licensing standards. The consultant will be responsible for assessing, designing, and implementing evidence-based protocols aimed at minimizing clinical practice variations and enhancing patient outcomes. This includes the collection, analysis, and presentation of clinical data for various stakeholders, including state and federal agencies. The consultant will also facilitate educational initiatives regarding compliance methodologies and regulatory requirements, while monitoring and developing strategies to mitigate potential liabilities for the medical center.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Enhances learning by sharing knowledge and providing strategic advice to advance projects; fosters relationships with diverse stakeholders. Actively seeks and responds to feedback, offering constructive insights to peers and leadership while mentoring junior staff. Demonstrates self-leadership by developing actionable plans to leverage strengths and address areas for improvement; adapts to changing demands and challenges, promoting team collaboration.
  • Leads or supervises specialized projects by utilizing in-depth knowledge in the field; ensures adherence to established protocols and procedures. Collaborates with internal and external partners to make informed business decisions; implements effective processes and methodologies; addresses complex challenges and escalates critical issues as necessary; tracks progress and outcomes. Develops project plans aligned with business objectives and deadlines, coordinating resources to achieve organizational goals.
  • Designs and executes data collection and analysis to support quality enhancement initiatives by: performing advanced statistical evaluations for quality assessments, special projects, and multidisciplinary reviews; identifying opportunities to improve reporting and narrative summaries by integrating various data reporting systems; presenting quality improvement metrics to demonstrate the effectiveness of initiatives to management; serving as a technical resource for team members and stakeholders by interpreting trends and assisting in data analysis.
  • Contributes to comprehensive quality improvement and risk management efforts by: researching corrective action plans for identified improvement areas through audits and surveys; ensuring compliance with internal and external regulations; conducting root cause analyses and other assessments in response to significant events to identify improvement opportunities; proactively addressing high-risk issues with appropriate entities.
  • Explores opportunities to enhance current quality performance metrics by: researching best practices for metric development and standards; collaborating with multiple stakeholders to ensure cohesive and achievable metrics; and integrating metric utilization into workflows to align with strategic objectives.
  • Facilitates the creation of quality improvement initiatives by: leveraging advanced technologies and methodologies to enhance stakeholder capabilities; monitoring the application of data-driven improvement principles, including Lean/Six-Sigma methodologies; and synthesizing information to create clear, logical plans with detailed milestones and documentation.
  • Acts as the subject matter expert on quality improvement processes and regulations for both internal and external stakeholders by: providing independent consultation on policy interpretation and regulatory changes; serving as a technical advisor on committees and projects; fostering collaborative partnerships to ensure compliance and enhance patient safety; developing educational programs to raise awareness of regulatory changes; and coordinating with stakeholders to address potential issues.
