Role of the Process Engineer

As a Process Engineer at InTech Athens, you will gain insights into the complete process of developing intricate spinal and orthopedic instruments. Utilizing established engineering principles and best practices, you will collaborate with both internal and external stakeholders to define process requirements. The focus of this role is on New Product Introduction (NPI), where you will lead a technical team, making critical decisions regarding technology and development strategies. Your responsibility will be to ensure the technical feasibility of products while adhering to specifications, emphasizing manufacturability for efficient, cost-effective, and scalable production.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and refine manufacturing processes for new products, including material selection and method determination to achieve quality and efficiency targets.
  • Collaborate with product designers and engineers to comprehend product specifications and design intent, providing insights on design for manufacturability (DFM) and design for assembly (DFA).
  • Supervise prototype creation and pilot runs, analyzing outcomes to identify process improvement opportunities prior to full-scale production.
  • Maintain comprehensive manufacturing documentation, including work instructions, process flowcharts, and quality control protocols.
  • Implement quality control measures and conduct inspections to ensure compliance with quality standards.
  • Work with quality assurance teams to promptly address quality concerns.
  • Coordinate with production planners to establish production schedules and capacity plans aligned with demand forecasts.
  • Identify cost optimization opportunities while maintaining product quality.
  • Explore innovative manufacturing techniques and automation to reduce costs.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives, analyzing production data to identify bottlenecks and implement solutions for enhanced efficiency.
  • Train production personnel on new processes and best practices.
  • Provide ongoing support to ensure high-quality product output.
  • Resolve production issues, conducting root cause analysis to prevent recurrence.
  • Ensure compliance with industry regulations and standards, staying informed on relevant updates.
  • Communicate effectively with cross-functional teams, providing updates on manufacturing processes and challenges.

Qualifications:

  • 3-5 years of experience in a Process Engineer role within advanced operations.
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or a related technical field; equivalent experience or training may be considered.
  • Technical degree preferred; however, a High School Diploma, GED, Trade School, or equivalent work experience is acceptable.
  • A minimum of 3 years in an ISO/FDA machine shop or contract manufacturing environment is preferred.

Skills and Competencies:

  • Proficient in interpreting Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) on part prints.
  • Adaptable to changing environments and able to manage competing demands.
  • Strong mathematical skills, including knowledge of arithmetic, algebra, geometry, trigonometry, and statistics.
  • Experience with CAD software, particularly Autodesk Inventor, is preferred.
  • Critical thinking and advanced decision-making abilities.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Excel).
  • Detail-oriented with excellent record-keeping skills.
  • Strong organizational skills to manage multiple tasks effectively.
  • Ability to collaborate and communicate professionally with team members.
  • Commitment to maintaining a safe and organized work environment.
