Veterinary Care Specialist

Alpha Omega is seeking a highly skilled Veterinary Care Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our animal health program, you will provide clinical veterinary care services and oversee the operation of our animal program.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide clinical veterinary care services to ensure the health and wellbeing of our animals.
- Oversee the operation of our animal program, including implementing preventive measures to minimize the introduction of diseases.
- Provide support for activities of the Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC), including protocol review, program review and facility inspections.
- Review and update Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) related to veterinary care and animal health.
- Maintain facility compliance with all applicable regulations, guidelines and standards that relate to animal care and use.
- Lead, train and direct veterinary technical staff.
- Provide input and data to investigators concerning their research and plans for the animals' health and wellbeing.
- Review, recommend and initiate policies, practices and procedures according to NIH guidelines.
- May be required to make use of controlled substances and to maintain appropriate records.
Requirements:
- Must have a degree in Veterinary Medicine (D.V.M./V.M.D.).
- Must be certified by the American College of Laboratory Animal Medicine (ACLAM).
- Must be licensed to practice veterinary medicine in the United States.
- Must have strong communication skills.
- Must be available to be on call on weekends.
Work Environment:
- Monday to Friday.
- On call.
- Weekends as needed.
License/Certification:
- License to practice in the United States (Required).
- ACLAM certification (Required).
Ability to Relocate:
- Bethesda, MD 20892: Relocate before starting work (Required).
Work Location:
- In person.
