Transmission Planning Engineer - Mid Level

RightWorks Staffing is in search of a Mid-level Transmission Planning Engineer for various office locations, with options for remote work. Candidates are encouraged to specify their preferred location during the application process.

Location Requirement: Must work within the USA, preferably Texas.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead network assessments for utilities and Independent System Operators (ISOs).
  • Collaborate with engineers to develop computer-based models.
  • Perform a range of power system analyses: feasibility studies, system impact assessments, reactive compensation evaluations, stability analysis, planning studies, short circuit analysis, load flow studies, interconnection assessments, and power factor correction.
  • Participate in proposal development and client interactions to identify new business opportunities.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering (BSEE).
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in transmission planning system studies.

  • Ability to lead system impact assessments.
  • Strong English communication skills, both written and verbal.
- At least 3 years of experience with PSS/E.

  • Experience in project leadership and mentoring.
  • Familiarity with ERCOT interconnection processes.
  • Willingness to travel up to 10% of the time.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in Electrical Engineering (MSEE) or PhD.
- 5+ years of experience with PSS/E.
- 7-10 years of experience in transmission planning studies.

  • Professional Engineer (PE) registration or equivalent.
  • Experience with additional software tools: PSLF, TARA, PSCAD, Aspen Oneliner, ETAP, Power World.
  • Proficiency in coding and automation.

Compensation:

- Base Salary: USD $100,000 to $150,000
