Bedminster, New Jersey, United States Associates Systems LLC Full time
Rotating Equipment Specialist

As a key contributor, you will be instrumental in the specification, procurement, and installation of rotating machinery within process facilities.

Your responsibilities will include developing competitive proposals for new business ventures and serving as a resource for operational teams regarding rotating equipment challenges in the field.

The range of equipment you will engage with is diverse and varies based on project requirements; examples encompass centrifugal, reciprocating, and screw compressors, process pumps, cryogenic pumps, fans, turbines, and related auxiliary machinery.

Key Responsibilities:

- Lead the execution of technical aspects of critical rotating machinery on assigned projects during both basic and detailed design phases, ensuring timely and budget-compliant delivery.

- Represent the Machinery Engineering division in cross-functional project meetings, including P&ID reviews, HAZOP studies, layout assessments, and model evaluations.

- Prepare comprehensive technical specification packages for inquiries and purchases of critical rotating equipment, conducting thorough technical evaluations, development, and risk assessments of supplier proposals.

- Facilitate kick-off and design review meetings with suppliers of critical rotating machinery.

- Collaborate with other engineering disciplines and coordinate cross-functional reviews of supplier drawings to ensure seamless integration of purchased equipment into the overall plant design, adhering to engineering standards and project scope.

- Oversee inspections and testing of procured critical rotating machinery.

- Provide ongoing technical support throughout the construction and commissioning phases of projects, maintaining overall technical accountability for equipment until successful handover to the client.

- Conduct site inspections to verify installation compliance with project requirements.

- Collaborate with the proposal team to establish a competitive foundation for the rotating equipment scope and its integration into the process cycle, representing the Machinery Engineering function in project planning activities and preparing the functional execution strategy and man-hour estimates aligned with project objectives.

This role may involve domestic and international travel to suppliers and project sites, with approximately 20% of your time allocated to travel, including extended stays at project locations to support the construction, commissioning, and startup of rotating equipment.

While the primary focus will be on air separation facilities, projects may also encompass gasification, ammonia, hydrogen, and other process gas facilities.

Qualifications:

- Bachelor's Degree in Rotating Machinery, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a related field.

- A minimum of 10 years of experience with centrifugal, reciprocating, and screw compressors, blowers, turbines, pumps, silencers, and cooling towers within the Industrial Gases, Oil & Gas, or Petrochemical sectors is preferred.

- Proficiency in the selection and application of critical rotating machinery during proposal development, including process cycle integration.

- Experience in Industrial Gases and familiarity with cryogenic fluids is highly desirable.

- Knowledge of gasification, Oil & Gas industry experience, and exposure to ammonia, CO2, and methanol units will be advantageous.

- Proven experience in the specification, evaluation, engineering, and inspection of rotating machinery in an EPC project environment.

- Experience in both Specifying Engineer and Owner's Engineer roles is a plus.

- Familiarity with internationally recognized codes (API, ASME, TEMA, IEC, etc.) is essential.

- Knowledge and experience in the fabrication of rotating machinery, along with inspection, performance testing, and evaluation procedures.

- A dedicated and driven approach with a solid understanding of technical principles, excellent communication skills, the ability to foster strong working relationships, attention to detail, and a commitment to continuous learning and improvement.
