Job Overview

Platinum Control is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Field Technician to join our team. As a Field Technician, you will be responsible for providing technical services related to the installation, troubleshooting, testing, and maintenance of our products.

Key Responsibilities
  • Travel to customer sites to complete service work and monthly preventative maintenance requirements.
  • Inspect, investigate, and troubleshoot equipment for quality control and improvements.
  • Read and understand technical operational manuals, P&ID drawings, electrical schematics, and mechanical schematics.
  • Work and communicate safely and effectively with field operations, fellow employees, and contractors.
  • Successfully complete and start up new installations of Platinum Control products in the field.
  • Manage and maintain appropriate stock levels of inventory and tools.
  • Secure appropriate parts and supplies through designated procurement systems.
  • Ensure all appropriate records are maintained, including inventories of parts, equipment, and tools, work orders, timesheets, etc.
  • Provide onsite and remote technical support to customers, manufacturers, distributors, etc. for product installs, troubleshooting, and training.
  • Use and adapt computer programs to retrieve and analyze data.
  • Be available for 24-hour on-call duty and subject to call-outs and travel time for work associated with field operations and/or emergency response.
  • Willingness to travel.
  • Maintain cleanliness of the work area and associated equipment.
  • Proactively respond and adapt in the work environment to meet the highest standards.
  • Prioritize and coordinate work activities to complete jobs individually and as a team.
  • Express ideas clearly in written and oral communication with team members and management to complete various jobs.
  • Understand and utilize safety procedures and safety equipment at all times.
  • Seek growth in expanding knowledge and skills through training and education.
  • Present self in a clean, neat, professional manner and wear company uniform (if provided) in its entirety.
  • Communicate questions and concerns to management.
  • Engage in the company's vision and seek to implement processes and establish goals with the company's vision in mind.
  • Perform other miscellaneous duties assigned.
Physical Requirements
  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds.
  • Must be able to walk, sit, stand, climb, twist/turn, push/pull, squat, crawl/kneel, reach above shoulder.
  • Must be able to perform repetitive hand/wrist/arm movements.
  • Average close/distance vision necessary in order to record data and operate equipment.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively and be understood by others.
  • Must be able to hear the various equipment in order to diagnose issues.
Required Knowledge and Skills
  • Excellent customer support and troubleshooting skills.
  • Prior experience/familiarity with basic hand and power tools and electrical meters.
  • Ability to work effectively with minimal supervision.
  • Possess aptitudes to learn the basics of combustion, natural draft burners, and all parts associated with automation of natural gas burning equipment.
  • Able to read and comprehend technical operational manuals, do load studies, and related calculations.
  • Ability to apply a basic understanding to carry out detailed written or oral instructions, operations, and duties.
  • Ability to apply sound judgment and reasoning when dealing with any problem.
  • Ability to apply moderate knowledge of computers and office equipment.
  • Technical degree or a minimum of 2 years work experience related to Automation, Instrumentation, or Electrical.
  • Must have a valid driver's license and acceptable driving record to operate company vehicle.
  • High School Diploma Required, or equivalent.
  • Safe Land certification preferred.
