Position Overview:
The Veteran Support Resource Coordinator (VSRC) plays a vital role in assisting Veterans and their families by providing essential services, resources, and support. This position focuses on identifying the behavioral health, rehabilitative, and other service needs of service members, veterans, and their dependents/family members (SMVF), particularly those involved in the criminal justice system.
Key Responsibilities:
The VSRC is responsible for developing a comprehensive services plan tailored to the individual needs of service members and veterans. This includes:
- Connecting individuals with appropriate service providers.
- Offering care coordination support and assistance.
- Monitoring the successful resolution of identified needs.
The VSRC ensures that timely needs assessments, treatment, and support are accessible to justice-involved veterans (JIVs) throughout various phases of the criminal justice system. Additionally, the VSRC provides outreach and supportive services to JIVs in diverse settings, including diversion courts, correctional facilities, and during probation and parole supervision.
Minimum Qualifications:
Applicants should possess knowledge and familiarity with military services and culture, along with experience in human services or behavioral healthcare. Key qualifications include:
- Understanding of the criminal justice system and diversion strategies.
- Knowledge of re-entry barriers for justice-involved individuals.
- Ability to communicate effectively, both in writing and verbally.
- Strong client service skills and the ability to engage with the SMVF population.
Additional Considerations:
Experience in human services or behavioral healthcare is required, with a preference for candidates with educational backgrounds in social work, psychology, or related fields. A valid driver's license and an acceptable driving record are necessary for this role.
