Veterinary Technician Per Diem Position

We are seeking a skilled and experienced veterinary technician to join our per diem team at Veterinary Specialty Hospital-Sorrento Valley. As a per diem technician, you will have the flexibility to choose your schedule and work as needed to support our team.
Job SummaryThe successful candidate will have a strong background in veterinary technology, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment. You will be responsible for triaging incoming patients, partnering with veterinarians in patient assessment and treatment, and performing various medical procedures.
Responsibilities- Triage incoming patients and manage clients throughout their visit
- Partner with DVMs in patient assessment, diagnostics, treatments, and procedures
- Obtain and process laboratory samples, including blood, urine, and fine needle aspirates
- Utilize imaging modalities for patient assessment
- Manage treatments for hospitalized patients
- Execute, monitor, and recover sedation and anesthetic events
- Perform phlebotomy and IV catheter placement in canine and feline patients
- Minimum 2-3 years of experience in a progressive hospital, preferably in ECC/Specialty
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to prioritize and adapt to a fast-paced environment
- Good overall knowledge of disease processes, medical math, anesthesia, and pharmacology
- Current CA RVT license or VACSP required
- Ability to work a minimum of 20 hours per month and at least 1-2 holidays or company events per year

BenefitsPer diem employees are eligible for limited benefits, including pet discounts, uniform allowance, and access to the Vetbloom learning platform. Benefits are available the 1st of the month following 30 days.
CompensationPay range: $18-$23 per hour for Veterinary Assistants, $35.00 per hour for Registered Veterinary Technicians (RVT), and $40.00 per hour for Veterinary Technician Specialists (VTS). Additional differential for overnight shifts. Compensation is negotiable based on education, experience, and credentialing.
