Care and Support Specialist

At Adelbrook Community Services Inc, we are seeking a skilled Direct Care Counselor to join our team. This role is responsible for providing guidance, supervision, mentoring, and life skills training to adolescent females residing in our Therapeutic Group Home.
">About the RoleThis non-exempt, full-time position involves ensuring the maintenance of a healthy, therapeutic milieu and sound, trauma-informed treatment-focused activities. The ideal candidate will have experience working with seriously emotionally disturbed youth, preferably in a residential setting, and be familiar with the agency's trauma-informed treatment philosophy.
The salary for this position is $45,000 - $60,000 per annum, depending on qualifications and experience. As a Direct Care Counselor at Adelbrook, you will be part of a dynamic team dedicated to providing exceptional care and support to young women in need.
Key Responsibilities:
- Monitor residents' behavior and teach behavior and anger management techniques using the agency's trauma-informed treatment philosophy.
- Record and report client behavior data using appropriate logs and other documentation.
- Manage and intervene in critical incidents using the least restrictive PMT intervention.
- Provide one-to-one mentoring to residents as necessary or directed.
- Assist with planning and programming for the Co-Supervisors, Clinician, and Program Director when requested.
- Transport residents to off-grounds activities and appointments in agency vehicles when necessary.
- Attend all required trainings, Group Home Staff meetings, and functions, and participate in therapy groups as directed.
- Provide life-skills training to residents as directed by the Co-Supervisors, Clinician, or Program Director.
- Clean and maintain a clean household environment, including meal preparation.
- Serve as an exemplary role model to residents and other staff members.
- Participate in any agency investigation as requested.
Requirements:
- A high school diploma is required; an Associate Degree or BS/BA degree in psychology, social work, criminal justice, or another human services field is preferred.
- At least one year of experience working with seriously emotionally disturbed youth, preferably in a residential setting.
- Familiarity with the agency's trauma-informed treatment philosophy and certification in PMT, CPR, First Aid, and DCF Medication Administration are required.
- A valid driver's license, clean driving record, and insurance coverage through the agency's insurance carrier must be maintained.
