Ambulatory Care Assistant

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Ambulatory Care Assistant to join our Orthopedic team at WVU Medicine. As a key member of our clinical support team, you will provide exceptional patient care and support to our medical staff in an outpatient clinic setting.
Key Responsibilities- Provide administrative and clinical support to medical staff, ensuring efficient operation of the outpatient unit.
- Assist providers with completing requisitions and forms for patient examination or testing, and ensure availability of test results for patient visits.
- Administer prescribed medication under the supervision of attending providers.
- Perform qualitative and quantitative tests and examinations of specimens, and obtain and document patients' specimens as ordered.
- Document and report test results to medical providers, and maintain accurate medical records.
- Assist with scheduling additional ancillary testing as needed, and ensure medical records and test results are available for visit.
- Act as a chaperone during medical examinations, and provide assistance and information to patients, families, and visitors as instructed by the physician.
- Participate in Quality Assurance Program to ensure quality patient services are provided.
- Generate required patient charge data according to WVU Medicine outpatient procedures.
- Assist with maintaining appropriate inventory of supplies and equipment for patient care needs.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Graduate of a Medical Assistant Program, or equivalent experience.
- West Virginia state criminal background check, and federal, if applicable, required for DHHR regulated area.
- Obtain certification in Basic Life Support within six (6) months.
- Registration or Certification.
- One-year experience as a Medical Assistant or patient care.

Work is performed in a normal clinical outpatient environment. Position is frequently exposed to biohazards, as well as communicable disease. Position requires ability to respond quickly to varying demands from provider and patient.
