The Principal Engineer is essential in managing and directing the operational activities of the wastewater treatment facility. This role involves ensuring that all processes align with established standards and regulations while promoting efficient plant operations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversees the sewage treatment processes and coordinates the collection of wastewater
  • Manages the upkeep, repair, and preventive maintenance of all plant machinery and infrastructure
  • Ensures compliance with regulations governing canal and river control systems
  • Directs strategic planning and maintenance operations for the facility
  • Reviews and authorizes maintenance documentation, reports, and work orders
  • Conducts inspections of plant equipment and facilities to ensure operational integrity
  • Assists in the planning and execution of repairs and construction projects for plant facilities
  • Prepares technical evaluations and reports to assess process viability
  • Supervises personnel, ensures adherence to policies, and conducts performance evaluations

Qualifications:

  • Extensive knowledge of wastewater engineering principles
  • Proven ability to plan and oversee technical wastewater treatment operations
  • Registered Professional Engineer in the State of Illinois
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering with a minimum of six years of professional experience in wastewater treatment
