This position offers a full-time, day shift opportunity as a Clinical Nurse Coordinator within the Surgical Services department.

POSITION OVERVIEW

The Clinical Nurse Coordinator plays a pivotal role in establishing clinical care standards and expectations. This position is responsible for delivering expert care and education to patients in a clinical environment, serving as a patient advocate, mentor, and a positive role model for support staff. The coordinator possesses in-depth knowledge of clinical nursing practices, disease management, interventions, and pharmacological treatments. Additionally, the coordinator will assist in orienting new clinical personnel, ensuring they meet competencies and other requirements to maintain high-quality patient care. Collaboration with healthcare providers and team members is essential, including managing phone communications and directing clinical workflows. The coordinator will also support quality assurance and process improvement initiatives as needed.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Regularly meets with department leaders to assess educational and developmental needs for designated areas. Conducts needs assessments, gap analyses, and implements learning activities. Participates in departmental meetings as appropriate.
  • Plans, coordinates, and evaluates competency-based orientation and continuing education programs aimed at enhancing the skills and knowledge of clinical staff in women's and newborn care.
  • Maintains clinical expertise through practical demonstrations of skills and staying updated on evidence-based practices in women's and newborn care.
  • Establishes a communication mechanism for staff across all shifts to seek assistance with patient care challenges through various resources.
  • Fosters effective communication and rapport with medical staff to address their needs and concerns, promoting collaborative relationships, particularly in staff development.
  • Manages assigned clinical education programs efficiently and effectively, serving as a subject matter expert on hospital committees and reviewing relevant policies.
  • Engages in ongoing education and maintains required certifications relevant to women's and newborn care nursing. Demonstrates proficiency in computer skills for research and electronic medical records.
  • Maintains professional memberships and networks with peers to stay informed about current practices and quality standards.
  • Utilizes quality data to identify issues and develop educational programs to address them, collaborating with IT and quality professionals to enhance nursing documentation systems.
  • Exhibits excellent interpersonal skills, adheres to hospital policies, and demonstrates a commitment to the organization's core values.
  • Promotes evidence-based nursing practices that respect patient values, cultural differences, and preferences.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing is required.
  • Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of Montana.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, along with computer proficiency.
  • Must obtain Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within three months of hire.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master's degree in Nursing or Education is preferred.
  • Experience in an outpatient surgical setting is preferred.
