Job Summary

The Operations Manager at Oak View Group is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of our facilities, ensuring seamless event execution and exceptional guest experiences. This role requires a strong background in operations management, with experience in arena, convention center, or public assembly facility settings.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage overall daily operations of the facilities, including budgeting, purchasing, event changeovers, equipment maintenance, telecommunications, security, custodial, audio/visual, and safety.
  • Plan, direct, coordinate, and review the work plan for all event changeovers, meeting with staff to identify and resolve problems, assigning work activities, projects, and programs, monitoring work flow, reviewing, and evaluating work products, methods, and procedures.
  • Select, train, motivate, and evaluate staff, providing or coordinating staff training, working with employees to correct deficiencies, implementing discipline and termination procedures.
  • Manage labor hours for staff and temporary workers, reporting labor allocations to the Finance Department.
  • Participate in the development and administration of the Operations budget, forecasting additional funds needed for staffing, equipment, materials, and supplies, monitoring and approving expenditures, implementing adjustments as necessary.
  • Manage and upkeep the facilities' custodial function, ensuring staff is working safely, efficiently, and aware of proper safety guidelines.
  • Order supplies, materials, and tools as needed, developing and maintaining an accurate record-keeping system, including equipment maintenance and inventory logs.

Requirements

  • Minimum of three to five years' experience in an operations position in arena, convention center, or public assembly facility with knowledge of set up/housekeeping and event coordination, including progressive supervisory responsibility.
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college/university in a related field (Facility Management, Engineering, Sports Management, etc.) preferred; High School Diploma (or equivalent) required.
  • Familiarity with OSHA requirements.
  • Strong interpersonal skills required, including excellent verbal and written communication skills in the English language.
  • Self-motivated with excellent organizational skills.

  • Must be able to work a flexible schedule, including early mornings, evenings, weekends, holidays, and extended numbers of consecutive days.
