Definition

Under the supervision of the Dietitian Supervisor, this role involves conducting professional dietetic activities including nutritional assessments, counseling, and breastfeeding support.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Provide nutritional guidance to program participants, particularly those at high risk, to promote adherence to dietary recommendations.
2. Develop, implement, and assess individualized nutritional care plans, ensuring follow-up and documentation.
3. Create and utilize assessment tools to evaluate nutrition-related behaviors.
4. Lead clinical initiatives within a WIC clinic setting.
5. Design and deliver educational programs on nutrition for various audiences, including WIC participants and community service staff.
6. Update educational materials and manage supply inventories.
7. Analyze and apply current research in nutritional care practices.
8. Prepare reports and suggest program improvements to management.
9. Maintain comprehensive records related to nutrition contracts and client care.
10. Act as a liaison with community service agencies and healthcare providers.
11. Facilitate referrals to health and human services as needed.
12. Engage in continuing education to uphold licensure requirements.
13. Perform duties of a Dietetic Technician when necessary.
14. Serve as a lactation consultant, advising mothers on breastfeeding techniques and benefits.
15. Collaborate with healthcare professionals to assess patient dietary needs and restrictions.
16. Supervise assigned staff as required.
17. Communicate effectively with program participants who may have limited English proficiency.

Minimum Qualifications:

1. Valid State of Ohio Dietitian License or Limited Dietitian Permit, with licensure obtained within six months of issuance.
2. Valid motor vehicle operator's license.
3. Proficiency in additional languages may be required for some positions.
