Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced School Counseling Program Coordinator to join our team at the Dallas Independent School District. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing leadership and coordination of the comprehensive school counseling program, supporting students in their psychological, academic, and social development, and promoting a positive and caring climate.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive school counseling program that aligns with the American School Counseling Association (ASCA) National Model and the Texas Model for Comprehensive School Counseling Programs.
  • Provide leadership and coordination of the counseling department, including planning, implementing, and evaluating programs and services.
  • Support students in their academic, personal, and social development, including providing individual and group counseling, academic advising, and career guidance.
  • Collaborate with teachers, administrators, and other staff members to promote a positive and supportive school climate.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with community agencies and organizations to provide resources and support for students and families.
  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of the comprehensive school counseling program, making recommendations for improvement.
  • Provide professional development and training for school counselors and other staff members on topics related to school counseling and student support services.
Requirements
  • Masters degree in Guidance Counseling or a related field.
  • Valid Texas counseling certificate and valid Texas teacher certificate.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with diverse groups.
  • Effective interpersonal skills to interact with all levels of employees, staff members, and the general public.
  • Competence with the use of technology required in a professional office.
  • Ability to promote a positive, caring climate.
  • Process all levels of work on assignments from beginning to end.
  • Effective and efficient decision-making skill.
  • Ability to coordinate multiple projects and assignments; high degree of flexibility required.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish.
  • Experience working with diverse populations and communities.
  • Knowledge of social and emotional learning competencies, restorative practices, and positive behavior intervention.
  • Ability to interact and communicate effectively with students, staff, and parents.
  • Demonstrated ability to coach school staff and provide support with implementing SEL-based approaches.
