Job Overview

Position Title: Before/After School Care Support

Department: Community Advancement

Employment Status: Non-Exempt Hourly

Work Schedule: Part-time (Variable shifts based on school programming, typically between 8am to 8pm)

Reporting To: Chief Community Advancement Officer

Role Summary

The Before/After School Care Support role is situated within the Community Center Department, under the supervision of the Community Center Program Coordinator. This is a temporary position for the remainder of the academic year, offering part-time hours from Monday to Friday, specifically from 6:00 a.m. to 8:30 a.m.

Key Responsibilities

The primary objective of the After School Care Support is to deliver engaging instruction and activities for students who remain at St. Philip's after regular school hours.

Qualifications and Experience

Education: High School Diploma or equivalent

Experience: Proven experience working with school-aged children in educational or community service settings.

Essential Duties
  • Deliver daily instructional activities to After School participants and assist with all educational and extracurricular tasks as required.
  • Maintain accurate attendance records and provide sign-in sheets to educators.
  • Submit weekly lesson plans and any additional documentation as directed by the Community Center Program Coordinator.
  • Collaborate with fellow instructors to ensure effective program delivery.
  • Communicate regularly with the Community Center Program Coordinator regarding program status and needs.
  • Engage positively with parents and teachers, serving as a communication bridge.
  • Adjust classroom settings and schedules as necessary, in consultation with the Community Center Program Coordinator.
  • Notify the receptionist and Community Center Program Coordinator of any program changes.
  • Implement discipline and maintain effective classroom management for participants; address negative behaviors in consultation with students and their guardians.
  • Report supply needs to the coordinator to ensure program effectiveness.
  • Work collaboratively with St. Philip's educators and administrative staff to support program success.
  • Complete and submit timesheets bi-monthly to the Community Center Program Coordinator.
Work Environment and Physical Requirements
  • Ability to stand or walk for extended periods.
  • Physical activities may include bending, pushing, pulling, and occasionally lifting up to 45 lbs.
