Job Title: Behavioral Health PMHNP

At East Boston Neighborhood Health Center, we are committed to providing high-quality patient care and a supportive work environment for our employees. We are seeking a skilled Behavioral Health PMHNP to join our team in the Behavioral Health Urgent Care Service (BHUCS).

Job Summary:

The Behavioral Health PMHNP will provide direct care to referred pediatric and adult patients in the BHUCS and affiliated locations. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing quality patient care under the guidance of the Medical Director of the Urgent Care and in accordance with departmental policies and procedures.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide emergency psychopharmacologic evaluations and prescriptions to adults and children presenting to the BHUCS in collaboration with a multidisciplinary team.
  • Establish rapport and develop therapeutic relationships with patients of diverse backgrounds and varying levels of motivation for change.
  • Write up and present completed emergency assessments for clinical disposition in a clear and organized manner.
  • Evaluate the psychopharmacologic needs of the BH UCS patients and provide short-term prescriptions when necessary.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of the full range of community resources to properly guide and direct patients.
  • Provide consultation to and coordinates patient care with multidisciplinary BHUCS staff and the staff of the Satellite Emergency Facility.
  • Conduct a focused physical exam when necessary.
  • Orders and interprets appropriate laboratory tests, radiologic tests and EKGs with the support of the SEF.
  • Demonstrate the capacity to diagnose and effectively treat a range of behavioral health conditions: anxiety, depression, adjustment disorders and moderate-severe personality disorders.
  • Demonstrate excellent, advanced phone assessment/triage skills, assigning the appropriate level of priority at all times.
  • Perform advanced, high-quality, thorough psychosocial evaluations that contains data in support of the diagnosis, findings, recommendations and plans.
  • May obtain X waiver and prescribe medications to assist with substance use recovery.
  • Provides consultation, training and supervision to departmental staff as well as interns and PMHNP residents.
