Position Summary:
We are seeking a Senior Scientist, Full Stack Developer/Software Engineer – Protein Design to join our dynamic team at Janssen Research & Development. This role is pivotal in leading our in silico molecular design and simulation initiatives, enhancing our drug discovery and development pipeline for protein-based therapeutics.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Utilize infrastructure as code (IaC) tools, such as Terraform, to automate and optimize cloud resources.
2. Apply extensive programming skills in Python to develop essential software tools and pipelines for therapeutic discovery.
3. Create and maintain web applications that provide seamless access to our protein design platforms for cross-functional teams.
4. Develop and refine machine learning models to support innovative research in protein design and structural modeling.
5. Lead the deployment of workflow systems like Flyte, Nextflow, or Airflow to enhance the execution of complex design and modeling tasks.
6. Contribute to DevOps practices, ensuring high availability and performance of our platforms through continuous integration and deployment (CI/CD) pipelines.
Qualifications:
A PhD in Biomedical Engineering, Biochemistry, Computational Biology, Computer Science, Structural Biology, Biophysics, Material Science, or a related quantitative field with a minimum of 3 years of relevant experience is required. Alternatively, a Master’s degree in a similar field with at least 5 years of experience will be considered.
Extensive knowledge of cloud computing infrastructure is essential, with a strong preference for demonstrated experience in AWS. Familiarity with IaC tools like Terraform is advantageous.
Experience in high-performance computing (HPC) environments and a solid understanding of DevOps practices, including automation and containerization, are critical for success in this role.
Skills:
1. Proficiency in Python programming.
2. Strong front-end development skills and understanding of user experience (UX) principles.
3. Familiarity with workflow management systems such as Nextflow or Airflow.
4. Understanding of machine learning infrastructures and experience with training ML models for scientific research is a plus.
