Responsibilities:

Serves as the initial point of contact for patients entering the medical facility. Greets and checks-in patients, verifies information, schedules appointments, and updates Electronic Health records (EHR). Facilitates intake procedures such as completion of healthcare and insurance forms and collecting payments for services. Demonstrates confidence and cooperation from patients, their families/support groups, and other healthcare providers through effective job performance and communication. Adheres to all organizational, local/state/federal regulations, codes, policies, and procedures to ensure patient privacy and safety while delivering optimal care. May also be responsible for performing specific tasks and/or orienting other staff members within the department.

What We're Looking For
  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent education/experience accepted in lieu of degree or diploma.

TYPICAL EXPERIENCE:

  • 1 year of recent relevant experience required.
Essential Skills and Qualifications
  • Familiarity with insurance policies and procedures, as well as patient billing.
  • Ability to interpret various data and instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Possesses strong written and verbal communication skills to interact with fellow team members, supervisors, patients, and other hospital personnel.
  • Demonstrated time management and organizational skills, including prioritizing assignments and working within standardized policies and procedures to achieve objectives and meet deadlines.
  • General knowledge of computer applications, such as Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, and Outlook).
  • Prioritize assignments and work independently, as well as part of a team, including accomplishing multiple tasks in an environment with interruptions.
  • Identify, evaluate, and resolve standard problems by selecting appropriate solutions from established options.
  • Ensure the confidentiality of each patient's Protected Health Information (PHI).
  • Maintain collaborative relationships with peers and other staff members to achieve departmental and corporate goals.
