Job Summary:

As a Sergeant, you will be responsible for overseeing the security team and ensuring the safety and security of our facilities, staff, and visitors. You will maintain proper security protocols, enforce laws and regulations, and provide administrative and technical supervision to subordinate security officers and gallery attendants.

Duties:

• Maintain security protocols in specified buildings and grounds during special events and ceremonies

• Enforce laws and regulations applicable to your jurisdiction

• Provide administrative and technical supervision of subordinate security officers and gallery attendants

• Investigate and prepare reports of offenses and incidents involving injuries to persons or damage to property

• Conduct security briefings to ensure officers have pertinent information to perform their duties

Requirements:

• Pass a thorough background investigation

• May need to complete a probationary period

• Maintain a bank account for direct deposit and electronic transfer

• Males born after December 31, 1959, must be registered with the Selective Service

Qualifications:

• One year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-06 level in the Federal service

• Experience in providing protection of museum property and grounds

• Experience in enforcing rules and regulations regarding the safety and protection of staff and visitors

• Experience in monitoring and reviewing security management systems

Education:

• High school diploma or equivalent required

• Bachelor's degree in a related field preferred
