Job Summary

We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Medical Unit Coordinator to join our team at Christus Health. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will be responsible for providing administrative support to our medical staff and ensuring the smooth operation of our patient care units.

Responsibilities
  • Provide clerical support to the nursing staff, including answering phones, taking messages, and maintaining accurate records.
  • Assist with patient admissions, transfers, and discharges, ensuring that all necessary paperwork is completed and filed.
  • Manage and maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records, including medical histories, test results, and treatment plans.
  • Coordinate with other departments, such as laboratory and radiology, to ensure that patients receive timely and accurate test results.
  • Perform other administrative tasks as needed, such as data entry, filing, and mail distribution.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; certificate of completion from an approved course for Ward Clerks preferred.
  • One year of experience in a healthcare setting, preferably in a ward clerk or medical records role.
  • Basic computer skills and typing proficiency required; experience with electronic medical records systems a plus.
  • AHA BLS certification within two weeks of employment.
Work Environment

This is a per diem, as-needed position, requiring flexibility and adaptability to meet the needs of our healthcare team.
