Job Summary

The Department of Biomedical Engineering at UMass Amherst invites applications for a non-tenure track lecturer position in the area of Biomedical Engineering. The successful candidate will teach undergraduate and graduate courses in biomedical engineering, advise students, and serve on departmental committees.

Key Responsibilities

  • Teach up to six biomedical engineering undergraduate and graduate classes per academic year
  • Advise undergraduate students, senior design projects, and undergraduate honors students
  • Serve on departmental and/or college committees as needed

Requirements

  • A master's or PhD in Engineering or a related field with preference given to biomedical-related disciplines
  • Experience in college-level or university-level teaching
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to teach basic biomedical engineering courses and laboratories
  • Student recruitment and advising skills
  • Curriculum development skills
  • Ability to use modern pedagogical approaches

About the Department

The Department of Biomedical Engineering has 13 full-time faculty members, approximately 28 graduate students, and 370 undergraduates. The department expects to expand its BME faculty and student count in the coming years.
