We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Occupational Therapist to join our team at Brigham and Women's Hospital. As a Senior Occupational Therapist: Hand Focus/Ambulatory, you will be responsible for providing expert care to patients with hand and ambulatory needs.
Key Responsibilities- Provide high-quality occupational therapy services to patients with hand and ambulatory needs, including assessment, treatment, and education.
- Develop and implement individualized treatment plans to meet the unique needs of each patient.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to ensure comprehensive care and optimal patient outcomes.
- Supervise and educate staff therapists, assistants, and aides to ensure consistent high-quality care.
- Manage patient charges and hospital equipment in a cost-efficient manner.
- Graduate of an accredited occupational therapy program.
- Current unrestricted license to practice occupational therapy from the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
- Minimum of four (4) years of clinical experience, with the ability to waive experience requirement for individuals with other relevant experience and a performance record that consistently exceeds expectations.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with patients, families, and healthcare teams.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to act as an education and clinical resource.
- Works in hospital environments with some exposure to blood/body fluids/hazardous materials, communicable diseases, and unpleasant odors.
- Requires physical effort for lifting, transferring, and positioning of patients and/or equipment, which may result in musculoskeletal strain or injury with improper body mechanics.
- Requires use of sharp and/or electrical equipment, which could result in cuts or burns with improper safety.
Assists with supervision and education of staff therapists, assistants, and aides.
Fiscal Responsibilities- Patient charges are entered in an accurate and timely manner as appropriately supported by the medical documentation.
- Hospital and department equipment is managed in an appropriate and cost-efficient manner.
Works within legal, regulatory, accreditation, and ethical practice standards relevant to the position and as established by BWH/Partners; follows safe practices required for the position; complies with appropriate BWH and Partners policies and procedures; fulfills any training required by BWH and/or Partners, as appropriate; brings potential matters of non-compliance to the attention of the supervisor or other appropriate hospital staff.
