Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Occupational Therapist to join our team at Brigham and Women's Hospital. As a Senior Occupational Therapist, you will be responsible for providing high-quality occupational therapy services to patients with hand and upper extremity injuries and conditions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Examine and evaluate patients' occupational therapy needs and develop treatment plans to maximize function.
  • Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to ensure coordination and effectiveness of therapies provided.
  • Act as a clinical or non-clinical resource and provide education and training to staff therapists, assistants, and aides.
  • Participate in quality assurance programs and implement triaging, prioritizing, and monitoring admissions, referrals, and discharges.
  • Assist in proper care and distribution of department supplies and equipment and make recommendations for adequate inventory and new equipment.
Requirements
  • Graduate of an accredited occupational therapy program.
  • Current unrestricted license to practice occupational therapy from the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
  • Minimum of four (4) years of clinical experience.
Working Conditions

Works in hospital environments where there is some exposure to blood/body fluids/hazardous materials, communicable diseases, and unpleasant odors.

Supervisory Responsibilities

Assists with supervision and education of staff therapists, assistants, and aides.

Fiscal Responsibilities
  • Patient charges are entered in an accurate and timely manner as appropriately supported by the medical documentation.
  • Hospital and department equipment is managed in an appropriate and cost-efficient manner.
Hospital Wide Responsibilities

Works within legal, regulatory, accreditation, and ethical practice standards relevant to the position and as established by BWH/Partners; follows safe practices required for the position; complies with appropriate BWH and Partners policies and procedures; fulfills any training required by BWH and/or Partners, as appropriate; brings potential matters of non-compliance to the attention of the supervisor or other appropriate hospital staff.
