Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Customer Support Specialist to join our team at Harford County, MD. As a key member of our Permit Center, you will be responsible for providing exceptional customer service and technical support to the public, contractors, and other stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities
  • Receive and review building permit applications and plan submittals for technical accuracy and process in accordance with established procedures.
  • Provide technical assistance and support to customers, including answering inquiry calls and visits for Permit Center information.
  • Process and issue permits, and zoning certificates, ensuring compliance with Harford County Code requirements.
  • Maintain data management systems and recordkeeping for permits, and zoning.
  • Perform specialized administrative work regarding the Permit Center, including providing support to other departments as needed.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; associate's or bachelor's degree in a related field preferred.
  • Four years of progressively responsible administrative, accounting, or technical experience, including personal computer operation and customer relations work.
  • Knowledge of basic building, planning, and zoning principles, as well as experience working with permit and project management software.
  • Effective customer service and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with others and make mathematical computations accurately and with reasonable speed.
