Vertical Turning Lathe Specialist

Flexicrew Technical Services (FTS) is currently seeking a skilled Vertical Turning Lathe Specialist for a contract-to-permanent opportunity. This role is situated in a dynamic manufacturing environment.
Shift Details:
This position operates on the 2nd Shift, from Monday to Thursday, 6 PM to 6 AM (Non-OT Hours: 6 PM to 4:30 AM).
Position Summary:
The Vertical Turning Lathe Specialist will be responsible for the setup and operation of various conventional and numerical control (NC) machines to produce both metallic and non-metallic components. The role encompasses a variety of tasks aimed at ensuring precision and quality in the machining process.
Key Responsibilities:
- Interprets blueprints, sketches, and technical specifications to ascertain dimensions and tolerances for the finished product, along with the sequence of operations and setup requirements.
- Accurately measures and marks dimensions on materials to guide subsequent machining processes.
- Handles deburring tasks to ensure the quality of parts.
- Selects and secures appropriate fixtures, cutting tools, and materials on machinery such as lathes, mills, and grinders.
- Calculates and adjusts controls to manage machining parameters, including speed, feed, and coolant flow.
- Monitors machine operations to identify malfunctions or deviations from specifications, making necessary adjustments.
- Confirms the conformance of finished products to established specifications.
- Conducts trial runs to validate machine settings and programming accuracy.
- Performs additional duties as assigned by the immediate supervisor.
Essential Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED.
- A minimum of 8 years of experience operating Vertical Turning Lathes or Large Slant Bed Lathes, with a focus on producing close tolerance parts.
- Proficient in reading and interpreting G-Codes and M-Codes, particularly with Fanuc controls.
- Ability to perform job functions with or without reasonable accommodations.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Completion of a technical school program, full apprenticeship, or a three-year in-company training program.
- Over 10 years of experience in machining roles.

- Strong ability to read blueprints and specifications, producing high-precision work.
- Experience working in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
- Self-motivated with excellent organizational skills and initiative.
