Job Summary

Graceworks Lutheran Services seeks a highly skilled and experienced Financial Director to lead its financial functions and ensure the organization's financial stability and operational goals. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in accounting and finance, with experience in financial planning, analysis, and reporting.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement financial plans and policies to ensure the availability of funds needed to meet operating requirements and implement strategic plans.
  • Oversee the preparation of the annual budget, analyze and report variances.
  • Initiate and monitor banking transactions and account status. Enter journal entries for transactions.
  • Provide financial guidance and counsel to top management to facilitate the development of strategic goals and tactical plans that support the mission and general welfare of the organization.
  • Assure accurate accounting and reporting of financial transactions and related analyses and alert management of trends and potential financial problems.
  • Provide a financial consulting resource for the Board of Trustees and management staff.
  • Assure the protection of assets through the implementation and maintenance of effective control procedures.
  • Assure compliance with federal, State and Local payroll and other applicable taxes.
  • Evaluate and recommend insurance coverage for protection of assets against property losses and potential liabilities.
  • Select, develop and motivate a strong financial team to maintain quality services and care in accordance with the organization's mission. Supervise Payroll, Accounting, and Accounts Payable.
  • Manage and create an appropriate climate, which enhances and supports the development of quality social programs and encourages higher caliber employee performance.
  • Adhere to all policies and procedures of the organization and all federal and state laws regarding the privacy of protected health information.
  • Adhere to all policies and procedures of the organization regarding the use of technology and technology-based information.
  • Responsible for welcoming and on-boarding new employees.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance or related field. Active CPA or MBA preferred.
  • Seven years experience in accounting or finance field.
  • Experience in a medical facility, medicare/medicaid experience preferred.
