POSITION SUMMARY:
As a key member of the Facilities team, you will serve as the expert in safety and security protocols for various sites managed by the Children's Home Society of WA. Your primary responsibility will be to design and implement comprehensive safety and security policies and procedures. You will oversee safety practices, identify hazardous conditions, manage emergency response protocols, and conduct thorough health and safety inspections to mitigate risks and enhance workplace safety.
CORE RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assess existing safety practices and identify areas for improvement. Develop and execute a robust program to ensure the safety and security of all facilities managed by the organization.
- Oversee and analyze internal health and safety inspections, implementing improvement plans as necessary.
- Establish a systematic approach to review and report safety and security incidents, developing actionable improvement strategies.
- Identify potential safety and security risks and create culturally sensitive, trauma-informed solutions to mitigate these risks.
- Formulate a comprehensive plan for enhancing building security, including conducting risk assessments and developing crisis response strategies.
- Act as the primary liaison for all safety and security initiatives, collaborating with staff, contractors, and leadership.
- Design and implement emergency preparedness training, including evacuation drills and first aid training, for all staff across various locations.
- Coordinate training sessions and meetings to ensure staff are well-versed in safety best practices.
- Respond effectively to emergencies, ensuring the safety of all personnel.
- Align safety training and strategies with the overall mission and culture of the organization.
- Maintain and update corporate safety and security policies and documentation.
- Lead health and safety committee meetings, ensuring thorough documentation of discussions and actions.
- Ensure compliance with relevant safety regulations and standards.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- 3-5 years of experience in safety and security management within a non-profit or community-based organization, ideally in an early learning environment.
- Strong knowledge of best practices in security management and threat assessment.
- Familiarity with health and safety regulations, including OSHA and WISHA.
- Proven ability to implement accident prevention and risk mitigation strategies.
- Valid driver's license and a clean driving record.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
This position is based in a professional office setting, with moderate noise levels and typical office conditions. Some travel to various locations may be required.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Regularly required to stand, sit, and use hands for computer and phone operations.
- Must be able to maintain focus during extended periods of computer work.
