POSITION SUMMARY:

The Wing Assembly Technician C is responsible for assembling key structural components of wings in both open and closed bays using various sheet metal assemblies, which may include a range of metals, composites, and other materials. This role is designed for entry-level mechanics, providing opportunities to learn from more experienced operators.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

The technician will perform a variety of tasks in the wing assembly process, requiring a keen eye for detail and sound judgment.

  • Execute assembly operations such as cutting, filing, drilling, countersinking, fitting, shimming, adjusting, clamping, bolting, reaming, riveting, and bucking, often in challenging locations.
  • Conduct rework, disassembly, and reassembly as necessary.
  • Engage in closed bay operations, including drilling, reaming, and installing fasteners, while ensuring precision in locating parts and preparing holes.
  • Achieve performance metrics related to efficiency, quality, and safety.
  • Utilize specialized tools for drilling and countersinking precise holes.
  • Handle valuable wing assemblies, requiring familiarity with the jig computer system.
  • Apply sealing and bonding agents in hard-to-reach areas, adhering to specifications.
  • Install hardware components as required, with special attention to stress-critical and cosmetic areas.
  • Conduct functional testing of completed parts and assemblies.
  • Maintain accountability for the quality of personal work.
  • Perform additional related duties as assigned.

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:

A high school diploma, equivalent certification, or bronze level WorkKeys certification is required. Proficiency in basic arithmetic and the use of precision measuring instruments and blueprints is essential.


EXPERIENCE:

A minimum of 3 months to 1 year of experience as a Sheet Metal Assembler or Wing Assembler, or a combination of both, is preferred.


WORKING ENVIRONMENT:

The role may involve somewhat challenging working conditions due to access issues, noise levels, and dust.
