Role Summary:
The Technician (Packaging) is responsible for the setup, operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of an automated packaging system. This system comprises various subsystems, including vision systems, pneumatic devices, servo-driven mechanisms, and conveyors, which are essential for transforming intermediate products into finished goods. The technician will collaborate closely with automation engineers to address and escalate any technical issues efficiently.
Employment Type: Full Time, Hourly
Reporting Structure: Reports to the Plant Manager.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operate and manage the automated packaging system.
- Troubleshoot and repair equipment to minimize downtime.
- Conduct preventative maintenance on the packaging machinery.
- Ensure quality control by inspecting the output from the packaging line.
- Adhere to all operational work instructions.
- Communicate issues to the Automation Engineer as necessary.
- Comply with all environmental, health, and safety standards.
- Exercise stop work authority when unsafe conditions are identified.
- Identify and propose areas for process improvement.
Expectations:
- Work 12-hour shifts; 3 to 4 shifts per week on an alternating schedule.
- All necessary tools and materials will be provided by the employer.
- Reliable transportation is required.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs occasionally.
- Physical activities include walking, standing, bending, lifting, and reaching.
- Previous experience in a manufacturing or refinery environment is preferred.
- Willingness to learn and share knowledge with others.
- No travel is required.
- Commitment to the company's core values is essential.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with camera systems.
- Familiarity with conveyor systems.
- Background in troubleshooting and repairing pneumatic systems.
- Multilingual abilities, particularly in Mandarin Chinese, are a plus.
