Position Information:
The Medical Laboratory Scientist II performs routine and specialized laboratory tests and other procedures for use in the diagnosis and treatment of diseases. They utilize requisite equipment, instruments, and computer systems. Evaluating and reporting patient results requires considerable independent judgment within the scope of established testing methods. The laboratory technologist performs quality control procedures and contributes to the maintenance of laboratory equipment and supplies. They may assume responsibility for one or more laboratory projects or functions, such as performance improvement, safety, quality control, regulatory, administrative, staff development, and computer systems. The technologist trains new employees and/or students in the theoretical and operational aspects of procedures and serves as a resource for less experienced staff. They perform other duties as assigned.
Experience Requirements:
2 years of clinical experience in a clinical laboratory with moderate and high complexity testing required, or equivalent education requirement.
Education Required:
Bachelor's degree in Clinical Laboratory Science or Medical Technology required, or Associate's degree in Medical Laboratory Technology or Bachelor's degree in a related field required, with required licensure/certification, and with equivalent experience.
Licensure/Certification Requirements:
American Society for Clinical Pathology or National Credentialing Agency for Laboratory Personnel certification required, or equivalent education requirement.
Work Schedule:
10p-6a (1 shift/week)
Weekend Requirements:
