Job Summary

The Arlington-Mansfield Area YMCA is seeking a highly motivated and customer-focused Member Service Representative to join our team. As a Member Service Representative, you will be responsible for providing exceptional service to members and guests, promoting memberships and programs, and maintaining a positive and welcoming atmosphere at our Central Branch.

Key Responsibilities
  • Respond to member and guest needs in a timely and professional manner
  • Open and close the YMCA building, ensuring security and safety protocols are followed
  • Issue locker keys and towels, and monitor locker rooms as needed
  • Provide excellent service to members, guests, and program participants, contributing to member retention
  • Maintain the cleanliness and organization of the welcome center/lobby area
  • Conduct interviews and tours for prospective members
  • Register and sell programs and memberships, and handle cash and credit transactions
  • Develop and maintain positive relationships with volunteers and members, and help members connect with each other and the YMCA
  • Serve others by intentionally welcoming, connecting, and supporting members, and inviting them to get involved and give back to the community
  • Handle and resolve membership concerns, and inform supervisors of unusual situations or unresolved issues
  • Ensure accurate data entry for close outs and deposits
  • Maintain confidentiality of member information
  • Make decisions regarding routine problems where precedents have been established
  • Apply all YMCA policies and procedures related to member services, and exemplify the YMCA core values of caring, honesty, respect, responsibility, and faith
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Previous customer service, sales, or related experience preferred
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work cooperatively in a team environment
  • Capacity to relate effectively to diverse groups of people
  • Ability to handle monetary transactions accurately and properly
  • Basic knowledge of computers and ability to become proficient in YMCA software
  • CPR/AED/O2/First Aid certifications and other required trainings within 30 days of hire
