We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Research and Development Chemist to join our team at Bright Innovation Labs. As a key member of our R&D department, you will play a critical role in developing innovative cosmetic products that meet the highest standards of quality and safety.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and formulate new cosmetic products based on current industry trends, customer briefs, and benchmark products.
- Reverse-engineer current marketed products to identify key ingredients and formulations.
- Assist in providing technical support for other R&D formulations and ensure the integrity and quality of customer's formulations.
- Work with the R&D Manager to conduct process engineering and scaling up of formulas, and enhance and/or modify existing formulas, processes, and procedures to fit production needs.
- Ensure the appropriate stability testing is performed on various formulae as required, and promote compliance with Bright Innovation Labs policies, procedures, quality standards, and current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP) as well as safety and environmental regulations.
- Supervise a team of R&D chemists to work safely, efficiently, and productively, and assist the R&D Manager in maintaining a cohesive and positive working environment in the lab.
- Bachelor's degree from a four-year College or University in Chemistry, Cosmetic Science, or a related science.
- 5 or more years of experience in formulating cosmetic skincare and haircare products.
- Extensive knowledge of cosmetic regulations and industry trends.
- Ability to multi-task and reprioritize tasks on a moment's notice, and flexibility with schedule including shift work and occasional extension of working hours to help resolve production or other issues.
- Directly or indirectly supervises a team of R&D chemists, and responsibilities include training and directing daily workflow.
- A bachelor's or Master's degree in cosmetic science with years of experience in Cosmetic Research & Innovation.
- Knowledge of basic math skills and ability to work with Microsoft Programs such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Projects, and Outlook.
