Seeking Dedicated Lifeguards

As a vital member of our aquatic team, your primary responsibility will be to ensure the safety and well-being of all individuals utilizing our swimming facilities.

We are currently in search of Lifeguards who are available:
  • Weekdays
  • Weekends
Position Overview: To maintain a secure environment for all guests at the swimming pool facility.

Key Responsibilities: include, but are not limited to:
  • Preventing incidents both in the water and on the deck by enforcing established pool regulations.
  • Executing appropriate rescue techniques and providing emergency care when necessary.
  • Documenting any incidents that occur.
  • Adhering to the organization's policies and procedures.
  • Arranging for a qualified substitute in case of absence and notifying the Aquatic Director.
  • Regularly inspecting all rescue and first aid equipment for safety and reporting any shortages.
  • Maintaining cleanliness and organization of the pool area at all times.
  • Opening and closing the pool according to the established protocols.
  • Being familiar with the current schedule and guidelines.
  • Positioning oneself effectively to monitor the pool environment.
  • Arriving on time and wearing the designated uniform, which includes a swimsuit, guard shirt, whistle, hip pack, and rescue tube.
  • Enforcing pool rules with a balance of firmness and tact.
  • Using the whistle judiciously; a single long blast signals the need to clear the pool.
  • Remaining alert and ensuring continuous monitoring of the pool area.
  • Communicating clearly with patrons and fellow staff members.
  • Conducting swim assessments as required by departmental policies.
  • Adjusting lane lines and safety lines as necessary.
  • Reporting any immediate concerns to the appropriate personnel promptly.
  • Maintaining physical fitness to meet certification requirements.
  • Participating in monthly training sessions and staff meetings.
  • Accurately recording work hours.
Expected Outcomes:
  • All pool users will feel welcomed and secure, regardless of their swimming ability.
  • Programs will be improved through ongoing training and effective communication.
  • Lifeguards will be easily identifiable during all activities.
  • The overall perception of the organization and its services will be enhanced, leading to increased satisfaction and participation.
Supervisory Duties: Overseeing participants as they engage in aquatic activities at the facility.

Qualifications: To successfully perform this role, candidates must meet the following criteria:

Education and Experience: A minimum of a high school education; completion of up to 33 hours of training for lifeguard certification.

Language Proficiency: Ability to read and understand instructions and communicate effectively in both written and verbal forms.

Mathematical Skills: Ability to perform basic calculations and understand proportions.

Reasoning Skills: Ability to apply common sense to follow instructions and solve problems.

Certifications: Successful completion of background checks, child abuse prevention training, bloodborne pathogens training, Lifeguarding certification, CPR for the Professional Rescuer, AED, First Aid Certification, and any additional required training.

Physical Requirements: Regularly required to talk or hear; frequently required to stand, walk, and sit; occasionally required to use hands for various tasks; must meet minimum swimming and lifeguarding standards.

Work Environment: The role involves exposure to wet and humid conditions, with frequent exposure to varying temperatures and noise levels.
