Building Plans Examiner

As a Plans Examiner for Teton County, you will be responsible for reviewing and inspecting building plans to ensure compliance with local building codes and regulations. This is a critical role that requires attention to detail and a strong understanding of construction methods and building codes.
Key Responsibilities:
• Review and inspect building plans to ensure compliance with local building codes and regulations
• Conduct site visits to verify construction compliance
• Provide technical advice and consultation on standard construction methods and requirements
• Collaborate with Building Inspection staff and contractors to resolve code issues
• Coordinate plan review and approvals with other County departments
Requirements:
• High School Diploma
• Associates Degree in Building Inspection Technology, Construction Engineering, Architecture, or Civil Engineering preferred
• Five years of experience in building inspection, building code enforcement, or plan review programs
• Must possess a valid Wyoming/Idaho Driver's License and maintain an acceptable driving record
• International Code Council (ICC) Plans Examiner certification is required within six months of hire
Preferred Qualifications:
• Additional certifications for Residential and Commercial Plumbing, Mechanical and Energy codes
• Strong knowledge of County policies and procedures, and state and federal laws and regulations governing building and safety codes
• Excellent communication and customer service skills
Work Environment:
Work is performed in a standard office environment, with occasional trips to building sites.
