Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Property Safety and Maintenance Supervisor to join our team at Indy Gov. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing and overseeing the day-to-day operations of field inspection staff, performing advanced administrative tasks, and ensuring compliance with city ordinances and regulations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage and coordinate all aspects of field inspectors' daily workload, including data collection, organization, and workload quality and quantity evaluation.
  • Review and approve inspectors' daily field reports, itineraries, violation notices, and other documentation.
  • Supervise and train field inspection staff to identify and document violations of city ordinances and regulations.
  • Coordinate and oversee projects, prepare reports, and answer questions for city staff and the public.
  • Develop and provide training on typical field inspector job functions and ensure compliance with city regulations.
  • Present evidence and testify in environmental court.
  • Manage and direct seasonal high weeds and grass employees.
  • Review and examine special circumstances, and approve sign permit applications for quality, compliance, and uniformity.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent and three to five years of experience in zoning inspection, property maintenance inspection, construction, code enforcement, public administration, or a related field.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills, computer and office equipment skills, and the ability to develop staff.
  • Ability to obtain and hold a valid Indiana driver's license and operate a city vehicle.
  • Ability to obtain and hold certifications in property maintenance inspection, zoning inspection, and residential building inspection within specified timeframes.
Working Conditions

The successful candidate will work in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision. The ability to exercise independent judgment and make decisions in a timely manner is essential. The incumbent must be able to lift/move up to 25 pounds and be a Marion County resident within six months of hire.
