Job Description:

The Porter/Maintenance Assistant will be responsible for maintaining the physical well-being and safety of our residents by assisting with routine maintenance tasks, including plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and carpentry repairs.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist with routine maintenance tasks, including plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and carpentry repairs
  • Help maintain the exterior grounds of the facility, including landscaping, lawn care, snow removal, and outdoor maintenance
  • Perform regular inspections and maintenance on facility equipment, such as elevators, generators, and fire safety systems
  • Maintain inventory of maintenance supplies, tools, and equipment
  • Collaborate with other departments to address maintenance-related issues and support the overall functioning of the facility

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; vocational training or certification in maintenance or related field preferred
  • Previous experience in building maintenance, facilities management, or related field, preferably in a healthcare or long-term care setting
  • Knowledge of basic maintenance principles, techniques, and tools, with proficiency in plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and carpentry repairs
  • Ability to prioritize tasks, manage time effectively, and work independently with minimal supervision
