We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Staff Accountant - Fleet Operations to join our team at Premier Truck Rental. As a key member of our finance department, you will be responsible for managing the dynamic compliance needs of our company, including accounting, fleet, and internal control.
Key Responsibilities- Complete daily transactions related to company fleet and fixed assets, including capitalization of new assets, disposals, depreciation, and sales within our enterprise resource planning system.
- Perform month-end close activities for fleet, including journal entries, account reconciliations, and roll-forwards in accordance with reporting deadlines.
- Review repair and maintenance accounts for capitalizable items and ensure accurate recording of expenses.
- Verify retail and RPO sales orders for sales taxation appropriateness and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Collaborate with the Parts team to resolve work order issues found during capitalization and ensure seamless communication.
- Upload fleet transactions into our tax depreciation software for accurate tracking and reporting.
- Process parts sales and customer upfit invoices, ensuring timely and accurate payment.
- Notify fleet vendors of units disposed from our fleet care program and maintain accurate records.
- Review OEM rebate accounts for capitalizable equipment value discounts and ensure accurate recording of rebates.
- Maintain an accurate and updated listing of business personal property for insurance renewal and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Prepare files for annual machinery appraisal related to debt compliance and ensure accurate reporting.
- Provide analysis of company performance by collecting, interpreting, and presenting key reports to management.
- Assist in audit engagements involving external tax advisors and audit staff, ensuring accurate and timely completion of audit requirements.
- Cross-train and serve as a team backup, as needed, to ensure seamless operation of the finance department.
- Mandatory Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in accounting or a related field.
- At least 2 years of experience in a manufacturing environment, with a focus on accounting and financial management.
- Flexible and adaptable, with the ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines in a fast-paced office environment.
- Strong team player with excellent communication and interpersonal skills, able to effectively interact with personnel from all aspects of the business unit.
- Works well in a collaborative environment, with a focus on teamwork and mutual support.
- Strong analytical and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office software, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Familiarity with enterprise resource planning systems, including D365 - Finance & Operations and Sage.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex financial information to non-financial stakeholders.
