Job Summary/Overview

Oversees and organizes the activities of personnel in a multi-shift facility engaged in the upkeep and repair of physical structures, machinery, equipment, and grounds maintenance by executing the following responsibilities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Guides staff involved in maintenance tasks, ensuring the efficient and effective completion of designated assignments. Develops and modifies work plans to support production goals and adhere to timelines.
  • As directed by the Manufacturing Engineering Manager, solicits and evaluates proposals from contractors for maintenance and facility services beyond those conducted by internal personnel. Monitors the performance of these services and provides necessary feedback to contractors.
  • Orders tools, equipment, repair components, and supplies as needed.
  • Collaborates closely with the safety coordinator to ensure that work performed by both internal maintenance teams and external contractors adheres to safety standards and regulations. Proactively addresses and resolves safety concerns within the facility.
  • Reviews completed work for compliance with blueprints, specifications, and standards. Works in conjunction with the safety coordinator, facility insurer, and various regulatory bodies to ensure adherence to compliance requirements.
  • Manages and maintains a preventive maintenance (PM) program for production machinery and various facility systems, including HVAC. This encompasses maintenance and operator PM, utilization of a computerized maintenance management system (CMMS), and overall management of spare parts inventory.
  • Employs CMMS for the submission, execution, management, and documentation of work order activities.
  • Communicates and enforces company policies to staff while upholding safety, environmental, and electrical regulations.
  • Enhances production by improving working conditions and equipment, analyzing and resolving operational issues, and collaborating with supervisors to fulfill departmental needs.
  • Proposes modifications in working conditions and equipment usage to boost efficiency and durability.
  • Directly supervises maintenance personnel; executes supervisory duties in alignment with organizational policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include employee training, planning, assigning, and directing work, evaluating performance, addressing grievances, and resolving issues.
Knowledge, Skills, Competencies, and Abilities
  • Proficient in reading and interpreting documents such as safety regulations, operational and maintenance instructions, and procedural manuals.
  • Capable of writing routine reports and correspondence effectively.
  • Effective verbal communication skills for addressing groups of employees.
  • Skills in machine shop operations, mechanical drawing, and electrical/electronic training are advantageous.
Required Qualifications
  • Associate's Degree from a two-year college or technical institution; or a comparable combination of education and experience.
  • At least four years of relevant experience
  • Ability to safely lift/lower/push/pull up to 40 lbs.
