About the Position

This is a part-time seasonal class that provides guidance to recreation aides, volunteers, and participants in conducting recreation activities and events.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and instruct others in recreational activities at parks and recreation centers and community sites.
  • Provide guidance to recreation aides, volunteers, and participants in conducting recreation activities and events.
  • Assist professional staff in planning, organizing, and conducting recreation activities and events.

Requirements

  • 30 semester units from an accredited college or university in recreation, or one year of full-time paid or volunteer experience as a group leader in an organized recreation program.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with staff, volunteers, park users, program participants, and various community, business, and special interest groups.
  • Ability to train and provide direction to others in recreational activities.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely orally and in writing.
  • Ability to maintain complete and accurate records and reports.

Working Conditions

This position requires working in a fast-paced environment with multiple priorities and deadlines. The ability to work independently and as part of a team is essential.
