Job Summary

The City of Sacramento is seeking a Recreation Aide to work with older adults in the Older Adult Services division of the Youth, Parks, and Community Enrichment Department.

This is a part-time, seasonal position that involves leading, monitoring, and assisting with various recreation activities, special events, or human service programs for older adults.

The ideal candidate will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with older adults, volunteers, and staff members.

  • Lead recreation activities and programs for older adults
  • Assist with personal care needs and mobility issues
  • Monitor facility use and prepare facilities for recreational activities
  • Provide excellent customer service and interact with older adults, volunteers, and staff members
  • Participate in staff meetings and trainings
Requirements

To be eligible for this position, you must be at least 18 years old and have a high school diploma or equivalent.

You must also have a valid California driver's license and be able to pass a background check and a medical exam.

The ideal candidate will have experience working with older adults, volunteers, and staff members, as well as excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Working Conditions

This is an active position that requires the ability to move about on foot, with frequent walking and standing.

You will also be required to lift, carry, or move equipment of 35 pounds or less, and assist with the transfer of participants, including chair-to-wheelchair transfers.

You may be required to work evenings and weekends, and will be exposed to moderate noise levels, controlled temperature conditions, and human biological hazards when assisting participants with bathroom care.
