Position Overview
This role is essential in providing general program information and support regarding the operations and services of the Corps. Responsibilities include receiving and processing deliveries and donations, welcoming and announcing visitors and clients, and offering administrative support for various programs including Social Services, Food Pantry, and seasonal initiatives. Additionally, the position involves assisting with children's activities in an after-school program and performing routine clerical tasks such as typing and filing. The role may also require transporting passengers using a Salvation Army vehicle.
Key Competencies
Successful candidates will demonstrate the ability to:
- Direct phone calls to the appropriate personnel or department.
- Assist callers and visitors with professionalism and courtesy.
- Accurately record messages and maintain clear communication.
- Manage clerical tasks while handling a multi-line telephone system.
- Ensure an adequate supply of applications and informational materials for visitors.
- Respond effectively to emergencies.
- Project a positive and professional image of The Salvation Army.
Qualifications
Applicants should possess a high school diploma or G.E.D., along with prior experience in customer service or receptionist roles. Equivalent combinations of training and experience that provide the necessary skills and knowledge will also be considered. Certifications: A valid State Driver's License is preferred.
Physical and Working Conditions
Candidates must meet attendance requirements and effectively communicate in English. The role involves operating a telephone and/or switchboard, sorting documents, and performing tasks that may require walking, standing, and light lifting (up to 25 lbs.). Work is typically conducted in a standard office environment with minimal physical discomforts.
