Job Title: Facility Custodian/Maintenance Worker
FLSA: Non-Exempt
Job Status: Full Time
Reporting Structure: Reports to the pastor, principal, and/or designated representative
Role Summary:
The Facility Custodian is responsible for executing custodial tasks, performing minor repairs, and undertaking various duties to ensure that all properties and facilities are maintained in a clean, safe, and inviting condition for students, staff, and visitors. Responsibilities encompass, but are not limited to, waste disposal, floor cleaning, landscaping, snow and ice management, and event setup.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare facilities for daily use by ensuring operational readiness (e.g., unlocking doors, inspecting the premises, executing minor repairs) to maintain safety and functionality.
- Secure premises to protect the safety of occupants and minimize potential risks, including regular checks of entrances and exits.
- Maintain cleanliness across various areas (e.g., classrooms, offices, restrooms) through regular cleaning tasks such as sweeping, mopping, and dusting to uphold a hygienic environment.
- Set up and clean the cafeteria before and after meal times, ensuring a tidy and safe dining area.
- Organize spaces for meetings and events, assisting with setup and cleanup as needed.
- Respond promptly to urgent situations requiring immediate attention to maintain safety and functionality.
- Manage temperature settings and lighting to ensure a comfortable and energy-efficient environment.
- Conduct snow and ice removal to ensure safe access to facilities during winter months.
- Stay informed on health and safety regulations and best practices for custodial work.
- Utilize cleaning equipment and chemicals properly to maintain sanitary conditions.
- Regularly empty waste containers and manage disposal in compliance with local regulations.
- Assist with supply deliveries and heavy lifting as required.
- Participate in seasonal cleaning and decoration efforts.
- Perform routine maintenance tasks, including minor repairs and upkeep of facilities.
- Inspect facilities regularly to identify maintenance needs and ensure cleanliness.
- Engage in annual cleaning projects as discussed with management.
- Maintain organization and cleanliness in custodial storage areas.
- Complete special projects as assigned by management.
- Be available for emergency tasks as needed.
- Carry out additional duties as assigned.
- High School Diploma.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in custodial or maintenance roles.
- Must demonstrate respect for the teachings and discipline of the Church.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills are essential for effective collaboration.
- Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks.
- Thorough understanding of custodial practices and safety protocols.
- Ability to read and comprehend safety instructions and operational guidelines.
- Basic knowledge of building systems and minor repair skills.
- Commitment to workplace safety and reporting hazardous conditions.
- Physical stamina to perform duties in various weather conditions.
- Availability for special events and emergencies as required.
The role requires physical capability to stand, walk, and perform repetitive motions, including lifting and carrying items of varying weights.

The position involves both indoor and outdoor work, with a typical schedule during school days and potential evening or weekend responsibilities.
