About the Role

K Lochner, a leading provider of professional services in water, wastewater, drainage, transportation, and development reviews, is seeking a resourceful and ambitious Project Engineer to steer our most impactful municipal drainage and stormwater projects across Central Texas.


This role is designed for a candidate with a solid history of achievements within the public sector, particularly with the City of Austin and adjacent communities.


Key Responsibilities
  • Lead design for pivotal projects from neighborhood flood studies to storm drainage and channel improvements, directly contributing to community safety and environmental sustainability.
  • Utilize your expertise to navigate project challenges and develop innovative solutions.
  • Mentor and direct junior engineers in complex technical work, ensuring the delivery of high-quality plans, specifications, and reports.

Requirements
  • Texas PE License or ability to obtain a Texas PE license within 6 months of hire.
  • Bachelor's or master's degree in civil engineering or environmental engineering.
  • At least 5 years of experience in municipal drainage projects covering all project phases.
  • Excellent communication skills, essential for team collaboration and stakeholder engagement.
  • Proficiency with HEC-HMS, HEC-RAS, and either MicroStation or Civil 3D.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Advanced modeling software such as SWMM, HEC-RAS 2D, InfoWorks ICM.
  • TCEQ water quality design experience.
  • GIS experience.
  • Experience with FEMA modeling and mapping.
  • Experience with channel design and stream bank stabilization.
  • Certified Floodplain Manager.
