Central Sterile Processing Specialist

UPMC Hamot is seeking a detail-oriented Central Sterile Processing Associate to join their team. As a Central Sterile Processing Associate, you will be responsible for performing duties necessary for the proper decontamination, cleaning, inspection, assembly, packaging, sterilization, storage, distribution, and documentation of reusable surgical instrumentation and equipment according to established procedures.
The Central Sterile Processing department at UPMC Hamot works as a team to ensure the best surgical outcomes possible. Second shift availability is required. This position is sign-on bonus eligible for candidates with previous Central Sterile experience.
Key Responsibilities:
- Decontamination and Sterilization: Clean and decontaminate reusable surgical instrumentation and equipment according to established procedures.
- Assembly and Packaging: Assemble and package reusable surgical instrumentation and equipment for sterilization and distribution.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate records of decontamination, sterilization, and distribution of reusable surgical instrumentation and equipment.
- Teamwork: Collaborate with the Central Sterile Processing team to ensure efficient and effective processing of reusable surgical instrumentation and equipment.
Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent required. Currently enrolled in an Accredited Surgical Technician/Sterile Processing Program preferred. One year of experience within UPMC required.
- Certification Board for Sterile Processing and Distribution, Certified Registered Central Service Technician, or International Association of Healthcare Central Service Material Management certification required for PA and NY facilities.
