Job Summary

The University of Miami seeks a highly skilled and experienced Senior Financial Operations Director to lead the Clinical Financial Operations team. This key role will be responsible for overseeing the financial management and analysis of the university's clinical operations, including the hospital, clinics, and physician practices.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement financial performance metric standards across the clinical enterprise.
  • Conduct monthly financial reviews and productivity reviews, ensuring consistency and coordination across the clinical enterprise.
  • Present financial reports to operational leadership on a routine basis.
  • Coordinate and assist leadership in strategic plan coordination and financial oversight of pro-forma business plan results to actuals.
  • Direct operating plan preparation and forecasting in conjunction with the office of financial planning and analysis.
  • Monitor financial performance of service lines across the enterprise.
  • Serve as the Clinical Finance representative on all committees as requested.
  • Ensure internal control oversight and compliance with laws and regulations, safeguarding of assets, compliance with University policies and procedures, reliability of internal and external reporting, and efficiency and effectiveness of operations.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in finance, healthcare administration, or accounting.
  • Minimum 10+ years equivalent experience in a healthcare system/academic healthcare setting.
  • Minimum 5+ years supporting leadership.
  • CPA preferred.

  • Knowledge of business and management principles.
  • Ability to direct, manage, implement, and evaluate department operations.
  • Ability to establish department goals and objectives that support the strategic plan.
  • Ability to effectively plan, delegate and/or supervise the work of others.
  • Ability to lead, motivate, develop and train others.
  • Ability to maintain effective interpersonal relationships.
  • Ability to exercise sound judgment in making critical decisions.
  • Ability to translate and present complicated concepts into simple items with actionable analysis.
