Postdoctoral Researcher in Infectious Diseases

We are seeking a highly motivated postdoctoral researcher to join our team in the Division of Infectious Diseases at the University of California Los Angeles.
Research FocusThe successful candidate will conduct research in mucosal immunology and the microbiome in the context of HIV and substance use. The project involves studying the interactions between the host and microbial communities in the gut and their impact on HIV pathogenesis.
Responsibilities- Conduct research in mucosal immunology and the microbiome in the context of HIV and substance use
- Develop and implement research protocols and procedures
- Collect and analyze data using techniques such as multi-color flow cytometry and/or mass cytometry, ELISA, qRT-PCR, and sterile technique for bacterial culture
- Collaborate with other researchers and clinicians to design and implement studies
- Present research findings at national and international conferences
- Ph.D. in a relevant field (e.g. immunology, microbiology, virology)
- Experience with techniques such as multi-color flow cytometry and/or mass cytometry, ELISA, qRT-PCR, and sterile technique for bacterial culture
- Strong background in bioinformatics and computational biology
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills
- Familiarity with techniques such as multi-color flow cytometry and/or mass cytometry, sterile technique for cell culture with BSL-2+ practices, ELISA, qRT-PCR, and sterile technique for bacterial culture
- Experience in bacteriology research (especially anaerobes)
- Knowledge of bioinformatics tools and software
