Communication Officer

We are seeking a part-time Communications Officer to join our Public Safety team at Lycoming College. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for responding to calls for service, communicating effectively with the campus community, and assisting with emergency situations.
Key Responsibilities- Respond promptly to and properly document calls for service, including alarms, emergencies, and other incidents.
- Communicate effectively and respectfully with all members of the campus community and visitors.
- Accept and return lost and found property according to established policies and procedures.
- Complete communication logs, including radio/telephone logs and vehicle use logs.
- Responsible for distributing keys and returning them to the key cabinet.
- De-escalate difficult situations by remaining calm, being empathetic, and maintaining impulse control.
- Assist local law enforcement, fire, and other emergency service agencies as requested.
- High school diploma required.
- Excellent customer service and interpersonal/communications skills required.
- Strong written communication skills to effectively communicate and document required reports.
- Ability to develop and maintain a working knowledge of college policies and procedures.
- Ability to make quick decisions using sound judgment in emergency situations.
- Ability to carry out verbal and written instructions.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with those contacted in the course of work.
- Ability to maintain a high degree of confidentiality at all times.
- Ability to demonstrate professional conduct in highly sensitive or volatile situations.
- Ability to handle multiple, simultaneous responsibilities at all times.
