Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Program Manager to oversee the implementation of our public health-focused prison transformation programs. The successful candidate will have a strong background in program management, with experience in leading and managing academic programs and/or NIH-funded programs.

The Program Manager will be responsible for administering all organizational and operational activities for our academic programs, including management, program development, program delivery, and program evaluation duties. This will involve developing and organizing conferences and other public forums, as well as other tasks as assigned by the PI.

The ideal candidate will have advanced knowledge and experience in leading and managing academic programs and/or NIH-funded programs, as well as a strong understanding of prison policy, practice, reform, and/or public or occupational health. They will also have superb skills and independence in writing, organization, communication, and personnel management, as well as experience collaborating with high-ranking government officials and leaders of non-governmental and community-based organizations.

The Program Manager will have independent responsibility for the overall management and oversight of all administrative operations, program design, and implementation of the group academic programs with a total annual budget of approximately $500,000. They will also be responsible for coordinating activities, setting and measuring health and related outcomes, and reporting progress to the program Director across multiple assigned projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Administer all organizational and operational activities for academic programs

Requirements:

  • Terminal degree in a related field (PhD, JD, MD, etc.) and five or more years of relevant experience and/or equivalent experience/training
  • Advanced degree in related area and/or equivalent experience/training
  • Academic background and experience in geriatric care among historically vulnerable populations, prison conditions of confinement, prison healthcare practice and policy; and/or labor movements
  • Thorough knowledge of administrative, budgetary, human resources, and financial principles and practices
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Strong ability to think creatively and independently on concepts requiring advanced analytical skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work with diverse groups to achieve results
  • Strong ability to work collaboratively with internal and external peers and managers
  • Solid fundraising experience
  • Demonstrated experience successfully managing multiple (or complex) projects/programs at once (often with competing deadlines/demands)
